Description:Cathodic protection is a reliable way to protect metal structures from corrosion and extend their service life. It is most commonly used to protect steel pipelines and various storage tanks from corrosion. Cathodic protection uses a direct current source (cathodic station) to ensure sufficient current. Depending on the environment, ground, and soil conditions, cathodic stations of varying power are required.
Control measurement points (control measurement columns) are installed between cathode stations. They measure the protective potential and store the measured results in memory. The control measuring column has two galvanically isolated measuring channels. The measuring range is (0...3000) mV, input resistance >10 moM. The measured data can be transmitted directly to a computer or to the central office via mobile communication.
Current commutators must simultaneously disconnect and connect the cathodic station output to the gas pipeline. We use a GPS signal to synchronize the current commutators. Measuring the ON and OFF potential indicates the quality of the gas pipeline protection level.
